Article: 18K Tiffany & Co. Vintage Vannerie Basket Weave Band

18K Tiffany & Co. Vintage Vannerie Basket Weave Band

Sometimes we're drawn to a piece of jewelry because it reminds us of someone special in our lives. For me, that's this ring. My mother wears one as her wedding band, and I grew up admiring it every day. It's unique, it's bold, and it doesn't look anything like a traditional wedding band.

This is the Tiffany & Co. Vannerie basket-weave ring in 18kt yellow gold. It's a little chunky for a band, with a really pretty domed shape and woven texture.

Now, this one in particular is especially small. Like, finger size 3.75 small. So maybe it fits your pinky if you're lucky. And if it doesn't? I actually think it could be really cool worn on a fun gold link chain.

It's cool, it's understated, and it doesn't scream Tiffany, which is probably one of the things I like most about it. It reads more like: if you know, you know.

The price is good too. As of this post, it's $1,795. The RealReal lists the estimated retail price at $2,900, which feels low to me for a substantial 18kt yellow gold Tiffany ring if something comparable were being sold new today.

Tiffany also doesn't appear to make the Vannerie collection anymore, which makes finding one on the secondary market a little more interesting.

My two cents? If it fits you, or you can get creative with how you wear it, I think this one's worth a closer look. The ring weighs just over 8 grams, which means the scrap value of the 18k gold itself is just over $800. So you're really talking about roughly a $1,000 premium for a vintage, signed Tiffany piece. With hefty markups prevalent at some of the large name brands, the premium seems reasonable.
